In the midst of this horrific pandemic, there's a bright light: Mark Newman will be performing a live broadcast at My Father's Place in Roslyn, NY on Thursday October 14th. To wet or appetite for some real live blues, he will perform on News 12 on May 10th.
Mark Newman's release, on Danal Music, is "Empirical Truth" accompanied by drummers- Shawn Murray and John Michel, keyboardists- Kevin McKendree, James Dower and Mark Bonder, bassist- Craig Privett and a varied handful of talented vocalists- Naomi Margolin, Janet Montalbo, Maag Stanley, Steve Bluth, Jeff Lubin, Jacob Koch, and Norm Madnick.
The release was 2019 Winner of The Long Island Blues Society Best Album Category, representing NY at the International Blue Challenge in Memphis.
Accolades aside, Mark Newman has appeared with music legends- John Oates (Hall & Oates), Jim McCarty (The Yardbirds), Willy DeVille (Mink DeVille), Sam The Sham, Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominos) and Sam Moore (Sam & Dave). Yet he is his own powerhouse, markedly different, reminiscent of the superstars of their era: The Doobie Brothers, Eagles and blues icon Eric Clapton.
Ironically, he bears resemblance to Dion De Mucci, but he is able to create his own unique musical prowess. Mark Newman has the licks, the talent and the drive to forge ahead without leaving his influences behind.
